When a page is mostly text, lines or diagrams, image quality comes down to edges. How to use PDF to PNG
- Add the PDF.
- Choose an Image resolution: 120, 150 or 200 DPI.
- Select Convert to PNG.

Lossless means crisp edges
- Every pixel as rendered: PNG keeps every pixel exactly as it was rendered, so thin lines and small type look just as they do in a PDF viewer at that resolution.
- The trade-off is size: The trade-off is file size: a page full of photographs can be several times larger as a PNG than as a JPG.
- For text and diagrams: For pages made mostly of text and diagrams the difference is much smaller, because large areas of flat color compress well without losing anything.
Picking the resolution
- At 150 DPI, an A4 page becomes roughly 1,240 by 1,754 pixels, which is enough for most documentation and slides.
- When to use 200 DPI: Use 200 DPI when the image will be zoomed or the page contains very small text, like footnotes or technical drawings.
- For quick previews: 120 DPI keeps files light for quick previews.
- The same for every page: Every page in the document is rendered at the same resolution and saved on a white background.
