Removing pages is how you tidy a document before it leaves your hands: dropping the blank backs of a double-sided scan, a duplicated signature page, or an internal cover sheet the recipient shouldn't see. Select the pages to delete and VelloDoc builds a new PDF from everything else, in the original order.
How to use Remove Pages
- Add the PDF and wait for the numbered page grid to load.
- Select each page you want to delete. Selected pages are highlighted.
- Check the count above the grid to confirm how many pages will be removed.
- Select Remove Pages and download the new PDF.
Removed means removed
- The pages are gone, not hidden: A page deleted with this tool isn't hidden or covered. The new PDF is built only from the pages you kept, and unused objects are discarded when it's saved, so the removed pages and their text aren't in the downloaded file.
- Cropping is different: it hides content outside a visible area but leaves it in the file.
- If a page must stay but part of it's sensitive, use Redact PDF instead.

Finding blank pages quickly
- By hand: Selecting pages by hand works well when you know which ones to drop.

When people use Remove Pages
Blank backs of duplex scans
A double-sided scan of single-sided paperwork leaves every second page empty. Remove them so the document is half the length and easier to read.
Internal cover sheets
Strip fax covers, routing slips or internal checklists from a document before it goes to a client or a court.
Duplicated signature pages
When a signature page was scanned twice, remove the duplicate so the record contains exactly one signed copy.
Limitations to know
The page grid shows numbered tiles, not previews, so confirm page numbers in a PDF viewer before selecting. Removing pages doesn't renumber printed page numbers, rebuild a table of contents or fix references that point to deleted pages.
Remove Pages: common questions
Can I remove every page?
No. A PDF needs at least one page, so the tool stops the job if every page is selected. If you want nothing left, delete the file itself instead.
Will page numbers printed on the pages update?
No. Numbers printed on a page are part of its content and stay as they are. If the document needs new numbering after pages are removed, add it with Add Page Numbers, keeping in mind that existing printed numbers aren't erased.
Can removed pages be recovered from the new file?
No. They aren't included in the output at all. Keep your original file if you might need those pages again.
Does the page grid show previews of each page?
The grid shows numbered page tiles instead of images of the content. Open the PDF in a viewer first to note the page numbers you want to delete, then select those tiles.
