Sometimes you just need a PDF and don't want to hunt for the right converter. Universal File to PDF accepts common document, image, text and data formats in one place. It works out the file type from the extension and sends the file to the same converter that the tool for that format would use.
How to use Universal File to PDF
- Add the file you want to convert.
- Select Convert to PDF. The format is detected automatically.
- Download the PDF.
- If something looks wrong, open the dedicated converter for that format for specific guidance.
Supported formats
- Office and OpenDocument: Word (DOC, DOCX), Excel (XLS, XLSX), PowerPoint (PPT, PPTX), OpenDocument (ODT, ODS, ODP) and RTF files are converted with LibreOffice.
- Images: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF, BMP and SVG images become image pages.
- Text, data and ebooks: TXT, CSV, Markdown, HTML, EML, JSON and XML are rendered as formatted pages, EPUB ebooks are assembled with Pandoc, and a file that's already a PDF is returned unchanged.
- Same behavior as the dedicated tools: Each format behaves exactly as it does in its dedicated tool.
Detection by extension
- Name files correctly: The file type is decided from the extension, so files must be named correctly: a Word document renamed to .txt will be treated as plain text.
- Unrecognized extensions: Files with an unrecognized extension are refused with a message naming the extension, instead of guessed at.
- One file per job: One file is converted per job. To combine several images into one document, Any Image to PDF is the better tool.

Why did a supported format fail?
